The Arab community in Israel, with a population of over 2 million, constituting about 20% of the total population of the country, is facing serious challenges regarding social rights and political participation. These individuals, who have encountered structural limitations and discrimination since the establishment of Israel in 1948, are now seeking to find an effective place in the politics and society of Israel.
Social and Economic Challenges
The high rates of poverty and unemployment in the Arab community in Israel, especially in Arab-populated areas, are among the serious challenges facing this population. According to official statistics, about 42% of Israeli Arabs live below the poverty line. Social and economic discrimination, weak infrastructure, and educational issues are other problems confronting this community. The passage of the "Nation-State" law in 2018 raised further concerns for Israeli Arabs, as this law diminished the status of the Arabic language in Israel's political structure and somewhat exacerbated discrimination.

Political Participation and Arab Parties
The level of participation of Israeli Arabs in elections is usually lower than the average participation of Jews. While some in this community boycott elections under the slogan of boycott, Arab parties such as Hadash, Ta'al, Balad, and Ra'am continue to participate in Knesset elections. Despite differences in political orientations, these parties all emphasize support for a two-state solution and the establishment of a Palestinian state.
In the 2021 elections, the Ra'am party joined the government coalition and, in exchange for supporting this coalition, demanded budget allocations for the development of Arab-populated areas. However, currently, following the Al-Aqsa Flood operation, none of the Jewish factions are willing to negotiate with Arab parties. This situation could potentially lead to new elections unless Jewish parties engage in negotiations with Arab parties.
Overall, the Arab community in Israel currently faces significant challenges regarding social, economic, and political rights. These challenges not only affect the living conditions of these individuals but could also lead to fundamental changes in Israel's political structure.
