War is not a permanent ceasefire for humanity, but a world of dangers and challenges. Recently, evidence has emerged showing that attacks on humanitarian organization workers in Gaza and Ukraine have become a deliberate tactic.
Human Rights Violations in the Shadow of War
International agreements that protect human rights during wartime seem to have been systematically ignored in the two recent bloody wars, namely Ukraine and Gaza. According to available reports, since the onset of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, there have been over 3,200 attacks on healthcare facilities in the country. These attacks, which occur on average twice a day, not only endanger lives but are particularly dangerous for aid workers rushing to help the affected.
War is Not a Time for Diplomacy
Considering the statistics, it is clear which side is ignoring human rights in these wars. In Gaza, aid workers are also targeted, and this is a bitter reality that in a world where we should rush to help each other, instead of being protected, they are put in the line of fire.
These assaults not only demonstrate a disregard for the basic principles of humanity but also clearly show how in the modern world, human lives can easily become victims of political and military interests. On the other hand, this issue should serve as a serious wake-up call for the international community to strive more than ever to protect humanitarian workers.
